What are neutral colours?
These are the colours that can be combined with all other shades. Neutral colours form the core of your wardrobe; a wardrobe with neutrals in the right quantity will mean you’ll always have something to wear and that countless outfits can be created. Where fashion colours come and go, neutral colours don’t date and can be worn season after season, and indeed year after year. Having knowledge of your most flattering neutral shades is instrumental in building a well co-ordinated wardrobe.

Black, white, navy blue and grey may spring to mind. But these aren’t the only shades that are neutrals. There are also colours such as pewter, taupe, bronze, spruce and cocoa. It’s advisable to invest in neutral colours; spend money on the best that you can afford so that you’ll be rewarded with longevity.
Create base outfits from your neutrals and add pops of colour. With a solid core of neutrals in your wardrobe, you will likely find that you only need to buy minimal fashion or on trend pieces to keep looking current with each season. This is much kinder on our finances! You can have fun with accent colours to combine with your neutrals, as long as they are also your most flattering colours.
